From the East
Brothers all,
We had the first BBQ chicken/lunch, on Saturday September 24th, It was a big success. The food was great. The friendship with all who attended was even better !!!The OES served the drinks and desert, boy oho boy, can they make desert!!! Don’t forget our pancake breakfast on Saturday October 8th. 7 to 11am.We are practicing for an EA degree every Thursday. Please come out to help. If you missed the BBQ in September the next one is Saturday October 15, 11am to 2:00pm. The first Meeting of December we will be deciding on our new officers of the lodge for 2017, if you would like to start going through the chairs, please come to practice on Thursdays. I cannot thank all the brothers enough that help with the breakfasts, the BBQ’s, and the dinners at the lodge meetings. You all are doing such a fantastic job. THANK YOU for making New Smyrna Lodge # 149 such a great Lodge!!
Allan J Baker
Worshipful Master
From the South
I am glad to report that the fishing raffle was a success, and we are planning to repeat it again next year. The month of September included our first breakfast, the fishing raffle, Master Mason Degree and the official DDGM visit, WOW! As all of you are aware we go back to our 2 meetings a month in October, the first and third Mondays. Practice for the entered apprentice degree is on Thursdays at 6pm. The degree will be held at our second meeting, on the October 17th. We have 4 new candidates who are looking forward to joining the Lodge. This year has flown by, it seems like just yesterday we had our elections and installations. Our Worshipful Master Allan Baker has lead the Lodge with confidence and integrity and under his direction we have prospered. Please start thinking about your new lodge officers, the elections will be here before you know it, consider how important the leaders are to keep the Lodge moving ahead in the right direction. Soon our snow bird brothers will be joining us it will be great to have them back in the Lodge, make them welcome. The 5 new Brothers have stepped up and are willing to do whatever the Lodge needs, some of them have agreed to be conductors for the entered apprentice degree, that says we have the right men as new Masons. Now the thing all of you want to know, what we are serving for dinner? On October the 3rd we will be having chicken boiled potatoes mixed veggies roll and butter and repeat of a requested desert apple crisp. And for the Entered Apprentice evening, our second meeting, October 17th we are doing an {Octoberfest} with a surprise. Be sure not to miss these meetings as there will be much to be discussed. Call a Brother you have not seen in the Lodge for some time, and ask them to attend, they will not be disappointed.
Mark King, Junior Warden

Continue of Lodge History
The first 10 years continued: We had 15 Master Masons members, and 1 Entered Apprentice member, and held our Stated Meetings on the first and third Thursday of each month. Grand Lodge proceedings of 1899 show that the Stated Communications were changed to the first and third Mondays. Annual Returns in those days did not show the amount dues and fees collected by the Lodge. They did show the amount charged by Grand Lodge. The 1896 Annual Returns show that Grand Lodge charged $1.50 per member. This $1.50 was reduced to $1.00 in 1902. Ministers were exempt from Grand Lodge Dues. We had one member who was a Minister during this time. The Lodge grew slowly but steadily from 1896 to 1905. To be continued.

Update on Circumscribe
Circumscribe has been fully uploaded for our Lodge as of Thursday August 25th, 2016,
Brothers All,
Circumscribe is here on line for our Lodge. I will put the instructions on line and in the Trestle Board for a while so all can use them. The meeting on August 17th was very informative. I will not be present at the Stated Communications on September 19th 2016, but will have instructions printed up and will have someone there with the computer to show those present how to log on on for the first time. We can also take pictures of brothers with the computer and will try to have everything running for you all. But please be patient with us as this is just as new to us as it is to you. The instructions will still be posted on the Trestle Board,
1 To Login to Circumscribe, simply follow these instructions:
2 Open your internet browser
3 Navigate to https://glfl.circumscribe.net
4 Your Grand Lodge number is on your current dues card
5 Enter your initial Username:
6 “FL” + Your Grand Lodge Number +”@changeyouremail.info”
(Example FL1234567@changeyouremail.info) this is for your user name to get started.
(Example FL1234567) for your password. (FL and your Grand Lodge Number)
Press enter
7 You will be immediately prompted to change both your username and password.
Your NEW password must contain 8 characters and 1 number
8 Upon successfully entering both, you will be required to logout, and then log
Back in with your new credentials.
9 Once you have successfully logged back in, navigate to your Masonic profile by selecting “Profile” from the menu items on the left side of the screen. Review your profile and make any appropriate changes to your contact information, and upload a current picture for your new permeant ID card. You must upload your picture prior to December 20, 2016. After this date, you will be sent a dues card without your picture, and replacement cards are $5.00 each. When uploading your picture, use as high a resolution as possible, and your face should be positioned to take up as much of the photo square as possible. You should avoid hats, sunglasses, other individuals or animals in the picture.
10 Be sure to select “Save Profile” to complete the process.
Online help is always available at http://help.circumscribe.net or by clicking the question mark icon on the top right of the Circumscribe dashboard once you are logged in. For additional support please contact me by phone 386-423-2370. If I am not at the Lodge leave a message and I will call you back when I get back at the secretaries desk.
