The Worshipful Master requests your attendance at our Stated

Communications May 7th, & May 21st, 2018

                FROM THE EAST

as you know the Grand Lodge Communication is this month and every Brother is welcome to attend. I believe it is something that all should experience at least once. Keep in mind that your 3 principle officers are your representatives. As such, it is important that you make your thoughts and concerns about the Proposed Legislation known so that your delegates can vote for the best interest of our Lodge. I have been seeking bids for our air conditioner, so we have an idea on its cost when it comes time to replace it. It’s not in our budget this year but will most likely be included in next years. We have one person ready for the Entered Apprentice, and one prospective Entered Apprentice to have an Entered Apprentice Degree soon, along with our 3 Fellow Craft that are soon to be Master Mason. With these Degrees in mind, practice is a requirement and I hope to see more Brothers at our practice. The practices are on Thursday evening at 6pm at the lodge. The electrical project is moving forward, and I am looking forward to its completion. We also will be going dim during the months of July, August, and September with only one meeting a month on the third Monday of these month. We can still have degrees and practice during these months if needed.

                FROM THE WEST

Greetings Brothers,

Brothers Some Masonic Education

SUBLIME.  Of an elevating nature, that which causes the mind to complete that which is beautiful and uplifting. The Master Mason degree is referred to as the Sublime Degree.  SO MOTE IT BE.  So may it be, so be it Early Masonic literature often lists an amen, followed by so mote it be, after a prayer. The giver affirming his prayer; the listeners agreeing by either repeating the amen or saying so mote it be.  ORDER OF THE STAR AND GARTER. The highest order of knighthood in England.  ROMAN EAGLE.  The standard representing an eagle carried at the head of each Roman Legion; later a German order of Knighthood established in 1429. CANOPY OF HEAVENS.  Covering of the Lodge. Early Lodges met in the open under the canopy of the heavens. EAR OF CORN.  A symbol of plenty, usually replaced in the USA by a sheaf of wheat.

    Lodge History Continued:

On February 18th, 1924, an offer of $15,000.00 was made for the lot on Canal Street owned by the Lodge. Since this property was controlled by the New Smyrna Temple Corporation, the offer was referred to it and the offer was rejected, the price having been set at $20,000.00. On July 7th, 1924, the city of New Smyrna billed the Lodge $344.63 for covering the canal in front of the Masonic lot. An offer of $16,000.00 for the Masonic lot was rejected on September 1st, 1924, and an offer of $20,000.00 for the lot was rejected on October 6th, 1924. The first indication that the Temple Corporation might not be working out came to light on September 6th, 1924. A motion prevailed to appoint a committee to borrow the money to pay off its obligations and dissolve the Corporation. This committee made no report in 1924. At the end of 1924, Lodge Membership was 199. To be continued
